Our story
Why Acquity exists.
Businesses grow and die every day. We started Acquity so that more of them get to keep growing.
The problem
Every business grows and dies. Most die early, for want of a plan.
Some businesses close because the market moves. More close because the person who built them reaches a point where they can no longer carry them, and there is nobody to hand them to.
It is rarely dramatic. The owner keeps going a year longer than they wanted to, and then another. The best customers begin to drift. Good people find somewhere with a future. One day the doors shut, and a name that stood for something is gone.
We think that ending is avoidable more often than it happens, and changing it is the whole reason Acquity exists.
The gap in the middle
Good businesses wait, and lose value while they do.
An owner with a business earning a few million dollars a year sits in an awkward place. It is too large for one person to buy with their own savings, and too small for the large funds, who need to move far more capital to make a deal worth their while.
The buyers who do appear often want a fast turnaround and a near-term exit, which means changes that serve the buyer's clock rather than the business. So a good business, ready for its next owner, waits. The longer it waits, the more of its value quietly leaves.
Our answer
Buy the business. Keep the business.
Acquity is an acquisition vehicle built to hold. We are not a fund working to a five-year clock, and we are not a broker passing a business along. We buy businesses we can see running for another twenty years, and then we do the patient work of making sure they do.
That means keeping the team, keeping the customers, and keeping the name on the door. It means adding the structure a business needs when it grows past the person who started it, without undoing what made it worth buying in the first place.
Preserving a business is not the same as freezing it. It is guiding it forward while safeguarding the people, the values and the legacy that gave it its value.
Experience
Thirty years in the room.
We have spent over thirty years in and around businesses of every size, working across sales, marketing, operations, strategy, scaling and people. We have bought them, run them, turned them around and grown them.
What we carry into your business is not a theory. It is pattern recognition: three decades of watching what makes good businesses last, and what quietly undoes them.
Above all, we have learned that a business is a group of people who have chosen to build something together. People are the core of a business, and a plan that forgets them does not survive contact with a Monday morning.
What takes decades to build can be undone in a season. Our entire job is to make sure it is not.AcquityWhy we buy to keep
If your business is one of the ones waiting, we should talk.
An hour, in confidence, with no obligation on either side.
